Are you new to Irving and looking for a church? Haven't been to church in a while and missing your relationship with Christ? Had a change in your life and feeling lost? Then we invite you to join us at Irving North Christian Church.
INCC was formed in 1951 in what was (at the time) a wide open area in north Irving. Over the last 50 years the area has changed and so has the church. As we approach the beginning of our second half-century we find ourselves with a new minister, growing membership, and a new sense of what church should be. By the standards of a lot of DFW churches we look small. Don't let the size of the building fool you. Our reason for being is to spread the love of Jesus Christ to everyone that we come in contact with.
The beliefs of the Christian Church (Disciple's of Christ) are laid out below. We welcome all who believe in Christ, understanding that people at different stages in their life may believe different things. We respect those differences.
We baptize new members of all ages by immersion. However, we do not require rebaptism for new members who have already accepted Christ.
We practice communion at all services, because we believe the communion service brings us closer to Christ. All who attend are welcome to partake, whether they are members of our church or not
Our church is managed by a board of members elected by the congregation. All members are allowed to vote. Our budgeting process is open and approved by a vote of the entire congregation.
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. All persons are God's children
Open Communion. Communion is celebrated weekly and all who believe in Jesus Christ may participate
Believer's Baptism by Immersion. In baptism we set aside our old self-centered life and begin to live a new life of trust in God. Although we practice baptism by immersion, we recognize other traditions without rebaptism
Freedom of Belief. We are called together around one essential of faith: belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Persons are free to follow their consciences guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit, study, and prayer. We extend that freedom to others
The Ministry of Believers. Both ministers and laypersons lead in worship, service, and spiritual growth. This includes our youth, who play an active role in leading worship.
Belief in the Oneness of the Church. All Christians are called to be one church.
The Vision of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) To be a faithful, growing church, that demonstrates true community, deep Christian spirituality and a passion for justice.(Micah 6:8)
This Mission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)To be and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, witnessing, loving and serving from our doorsteps "to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8)The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was born on the frontier of America in the 1830's. It was originally a reformation movement that included elements of the Baptist and Presbyterian traditions. Today we are a small denomination with congregations all over the United States and the world. We work for the unity of the Church and encourage our members to have a deep relationship with God, be involved in their community, and to reach out to the world around them.
